- 5 FACTORS OF AWESOMESAUCE PIZZA:
1) Dough: 9/10
The dough is thin in the middle, while very puffy and thick on the outside. It follows indeed the typical neapolitan pizza tradition: the crust is not so crunchy, but very soft and delicious instead; it was perfectly cooked and not even a bit burned.
Plus you can taste that it is light and it is made with high quality ingredients.
2) Toppings: 9/10
They use seasonal ingredients and Slow Food products so all the toppings are very special.
I’m actually reviewing 3 pizzas since I chose this super special pizza with 3 different toppings 🙂
The quantity of the ingredients is perfect aside from the arugula that was definitely too much in a way that I had a hard time eating it without making a mess on the plate; plus it completely covers the raw ham 😦
You can clearly taste the different ingredients though and I especially loved the group in the middle: ricotta cheese and salami.
Furthermore I think that these 3 groups of ingredients are great even when they meet each other in this special 3-toppings pizza.
However I didn’t enjoy much its elliptical shape
3) Value: 8/10
The value of these pizzas is actually 9,5€ but they added 2€ as a service fee: I think that this is not very fair, especially because the service was nothing special.
I understand that this is not a normal pizza since the quality of the ingredients is very high, the mix of toppings is special and the preparation of the dough follow the old neapolitan tradition; however this pizza has a regular size, the quantity of toppings is not huge and the service fee does not make any sense to me so these prices are a bit excessive.
The price of 9,5€ would be fair enough instead.
You can understand what I’m saying looking at the menu below.
4) Service: 8/10
This restaurant is always crowded but it’s also very big (2 floors) so it’s better you book a table if you don’t want to wait a lot but you can also go there and hope that there is one available; however they don’t offer delivery or take away options
The pizza is not sliced and they are not very fast to prepare it: you need to wait at least 20-25 minutes.
The place is very noisy, especially during the weekend so after eating you go away pronto because 1) it’s not very nice staying there and talking and 2) there are people waiting for a table so you feel the need to leave.
Furthermore the atmosphere here is better than in Regina Sofia but still very cold and impersonal.
5) Side Effects: 8/10
After eating this pizza I was very very thirsty and I think it was because of the salty salami and raw ham; I also felt very bloated but this pizza was very big and the fried appetizers didn’t help either However I don’t think the dough per se would cause any effect so I will rate this factor 8.
- OVERALL RATING: 8.4/10 (another good Neapolitan pizza in Bologna!)
- APPETIZER SUGGESTION: Montanara – fried pizza with neapolitan ragu, basil and parmesan; we had it here at the restaurant and it was amazing: soft and cheesy.
